Sad Songs - the cure for heartbreak?

Whenever I've suffered from romantic problems, I'm always drawn to sad songs.  You know what I'm talking about - songs like 'All By Myself', the classic ballad that has been performed by countless singers since its original release in 1975.  I wish I knew why it happens because I'm actually not a sad person - perhaps if I were, it would make sense?  Infact, people usually refer to me as 'happy', 'cheerful' and 'gay' (but that's beside the point).
Toni's shoulder tattoo was invisible to the naked eye
Time after time, whenever I've been feeling low, I resort to listening to those sad songs and despite the musical misery, I gradually start to feel a bit better.

I'm a firm believer in the power of music.  I've often forced myself out of a bad mood by listening to a classic Kylie song, but that doesn't explain the healing powers of sad love songs.

UK Charts: Adele did it!

Congratulations to ADELE! She's the first living artist to have two Top 5 UK albums and two Top 5 singles simultaneously since The Beatles on 12th Dec 1964.

Adele has the number one spot in both the album and singles charts.  An amazing achievement!

Adele - Someone Like You

Uh oh.  Gaga might not get her UK number one today if Adele has anything to do with it.  Adele's heart-stopping performance of 'Someone Like You' at the 2011 Brits went down a storm and the song is currently number one in the iTunes charts.
Guests were in tears as Adele performed on stage.  RUDE!  She wasn't that bad!

Leona Lewis - The Next Chapter: Will we get another 'Bleeding Love'?

Leona Lewis has apparently been telling journalists that the next album (T.B.C. 2011) will have a different sound.  Leona is reported to have worked with some dance producers for the new collection.  I doubt she will stray too far from ballad territory though.

Leona's massive hit, 'Bleeding Love' is still a favourite with vampires.  In a poll, 9/10 vampires say that they prefer Leona's song to other blood themed pop songs.

Replay: Mica Paris - Born Again

I love Mica Paris, but I must admit that it bothers me that a large portion of her recording career was spent making bland, uninspiring songs that didn't set the charts alight.  It's a real shame because she has the most fantastic voice and a great personality.  In 2009, she released 'Born Again'.  The album is fine by my standards but it didn't really fit in with current music trends and therefore it didn't perform well.  Will someone give this woman a break?!!!!
The song 'Born Again' is a nice enough ballad.  Thoughts?

Replay: Agent Provocateur - Peep Show

In 2004, Sanctuary Records released 'Agent Provocateur - Peep Show' - an album of songs put together by Joseph Corre (the talented son of Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren) for the lingerie label.  The collection of songs is inspired by the sensual act of 'stripping' and it includes such titles as 'Sweet Little Pussy Cat' and 'She's Lost Control' sung by the gloriously gloomy Siobhan Fahey.  It's a fantastically odd collection and it's definitely worth tracking down a copy.
